What is it?
The Special Needs Transport Assistance Program enables eligible students with a disability to be transported to their closest disability education setting (other than their local school).
Who is eligible?
Eligibility applies to students who:
- are enrolled in a specialist school or learning support unit;
- have a disability that affects mobility and require the use of a mobility aid such as a wheelchair or walking frame;
- attend a primary unit for students who are hearing impaired or a support class language; or
- are enrolled in the closest appropriate primary learning support centre.
Parents must also be able to demonstrate that they are unable to transport their child to school.
